TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Indonesia will be one of the keynote speakers at the International Labor Organization (ILO) Conference following its ratification of the Law on Migrant Workers.
Indonesia has ratified the Law on Migrant Workers, confirmed Teuku Faizasyah, the presidential spokesperson for international affairs, at Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport, on Monday, June 13, 2011.
In this regard, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono this morning flew to Geneva, Switzerland, where he will present the Indonesian point of view on the steps the Indonesian government has taken in promoting labor groups and in efforts to maintain synergy between the employers and the government at the ILO conference there.
On the second day, SBY will meet a number of international leaders, such as the World Health Organization (WHO) Chairman, the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, and officials in charge for environmental issues. The meeting will be held to follow-up an award given to SBY by the UN through Syamsul Muarif, the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) chairman, last month, on with regard to SBYs role in disaster management.
On June 15, the President will pay a visit to Japan and hold a dinner meeting with the Japanese Emperor. On the following day, SBY will meet the Japanese Prime Minister and visit Sendai, a location affected by a massive earthquake and tsunami last year.
